Academic Writing 學術寫作
(適合 12-18 歲)
The ability to write academically allows students to express their ideas and knowledge in words. Besides formal writing, students will also learn how to use the skill in oral communication. Additionally, students will be able to apply the skill and practice in their curriculums which include IB, A-levels, IGCSE and HKDSE.
1. Grammar
Students are taught to unpick the grammatical mechanics of the English language, which enables them to use more sophisticated and mature grammatical structures.
2. Editing
The small class sizes mean that students will receive plenty of one-to-one support from their tutor to address their weaknesses and writing style. In addition, they will enjoy the great benefits of reviewing and editing work along with their peers.
3. Genre and Style
The workshop is designed to aid students with writing in a number of different styles, such as articles, essays, fiction/non-fiction stories, research papers, opinion pieces, personal statements, e.t.c. Successful writing is required for students to excel across a wide range of subjects, making the workshop both enriching and widely beneficial.
3. Writing in Exams
Students' creative writing skills are challenged by 'Finish the Story' tasks, a writing format commonly used in UK Independent School entrance exams. Here they will be encouraged to use figurative language and extend their vocabulary. In addition, students will receive guidance on writing to analyse, persuade and inform critically. The workshop includes tasks that help students ensure their writing is always evidenced and explained, an essential skill for successful writers. Simplistic language is replaced by mature and eloquent phrases, leaving each student unique and developed writing style.
